Here Rests in Honored Glory, an American Soldier, Known but to God.

Today I delivered my speech on the Tomb of the Unknowns for public speaking. Unfortunately, I was awake until 4am finishing it. Fortunately, it went well, and GREAT comparitively to everyone else who delivered today. Definitely looked better than the kid who didn't even go because he "didn't know his speech was due today until last Friday, and couldn't write it in one weekend." BOLOGNA. I wrote 92.7% of my speech this past weekend.
Anyways- despite all the work and staying uo all night, I enjoyed learning about the Tomb of the Unknowns. I knew some stuff already but learned a lot more and now I can't wait to go back to Washington DC to visit all the sites again.
and now it is NAPTIMEEE! :) ta-ta for meow!

back to the grind...

It's Sunday night and I'm back in Alfred. Last week was spring break. Boringboredyborebore spring break. Weather was good on Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, I didn't get out much to experience it. I saw a couple of friends at the beginning of break and then basically sat home with my mom all day watching tv for the rest of break. I probably should have done some kind of homework, but it was break. BREAK. Meaning a break from school, no homework, no work, no worrying.
Well now, I'm more than worried. I'm in the middle of a freak out. When I got back on campus I basically had to go straight to work, taking away 4 hours of my day that I could've been starting on my work. Three big assignments due next Monday, a "celebration of learning" aka an exam this Wednesday,14 hours of work at Friendly's and Taco Bell, plus regular homework and meetings and an attempt at a social life?! This week is going to be crazy and I'm sincerely regretting not doing anything over break. You'd think you'd be able to ease back into things after break. NOT A CHANCE.
On the bright side of break, I may have discovered one of the coolest places in the Greater Rochester Area. Ok, so I didn't "discover" it. BUT, I got to go for the first time on Monday and had a BLAST! It's called Color Me Mine. It's a ceramics studio, where you buy a ceramic piece and paint it yourself. What makes it better than buying a random ceramic piece and acrylics at Wal*Mart is that they glaze and fire the pieces in a kiln so they come out in beautiful bright, shiny colors that won't wear off. One of my girlfriends was working when I went in so I got a secret discount. (shhhh, don't tell!) I ended up having a great time, and went back later that week to make a present for someone. I definitely felt out of place though because there were art students from a near by college painting these intricate, beautiful pieces while I was trying to make a flower on a square tile. But I had a lot of fun and can't wait to give the presents to my family.

These entries always seem to be a little scatter-brained and absent-minded, but I guess that's a pretty sufficient display of who I am. It's bedtime for the tired. More comin' atcha soon!
P.S.- 10 DAYS UNTIL OPENING DAY!

one long week

So right now its 11:49 on Wednesday night and this may be one if the longest weeks of my semester. It's only Wednesday. But it's midterm grades come out tomorrow at 11, so I guess it makes sense for it to be such a crazy week. Sunday I worked from 2 to 7, then stayed up all night doing homework, extra credit work and studying for midterm exams.
--> Exam Monday: passed with a 68. That was worth studying all night...
--> Quiz Tuesday: waited in class for the teacher for a half hour. Took the quiz, think I did alright.
Exam Tuesday: tried to study, couldn't focus. Much harder than I thought it would be...
--> Exam Wednesday: studied, make a cheat sheet card (it was allowed!), 100 number two!

On top of all the crazy studying and work to do, I've been trying to make plans to get home on Friday. Spring Break 2011 here I come!!! WOOHOO nothing says spring break like downtown Rochester! Really though, I was supposed to be going to San Diego, CA. Airlines are tricky, smart-marketing little buggers that rip off college students. Round trip tickets to San Diego were almost $800. Sure, staying somewhere at no cost, all of our (mine and my boyfriend's) food paid for, as well as probably anything else we could want or need, for $800 sounds like a great deal. But there was NO way I was paying $800 for plane tickets. San Diego can wait until next year.

Well, thankfully the week should be slowing down. Two classes tomorrow, just notes and lots of learning. No quizzes, no exams, not even homework that's due. Friday, four classes, still just lots of notes and learning. Unthankfully, that leaves projects and a speech to write over spring break. So much for relaxing.

This long Wednesday has come to a close. Looking forward to an easy, short tomorrow. Bedtime for sleepy!
